The shiner fishing on headwaters has been anywhere from good to great the last two weeks. I’ve been running mainly shiner trips but did get a couple lure trips in where we had good fishing on plastics and topwaters.
The good… the crappie fishing is great! Been catching a bunch on both jigging and minnows with the average keeper around a pound. I primarily fish in the grass while others are having luck in the depths with spider rigs.
The bad… the bass fishing has been inconsistent. One day, we smash them on lures and the next, it’s tough. The shiner fishing has been producing better numbers of fish while I’ve caught my bigs flipping jigs and plastics in vegetation.
I have a date with Okeechobee crappie tomorrow followed with a couple days of shiner fishing on the headwaters. If you want to get out on the water and chase some bigguns’, give me a ring! My February and March dates are filling up fast.
